Augustinian Values: LOVE. FRIENDSHIP. PRAYER

Augustinian Values are Christian Values which Augustine lived and taught in the conviction that such values contribute to the fulfilment of the Lord’s two-fold commandment of Love in the spirit of the Beatitudes. Among the 10 Augustinian Values, I choose Love, Friendship and Prayer which I think have molded me to become a better person.
 


 First is Love. Love is the pursuit, the possession, and the enjoyment of the Good. It is the most important thing in our lives because without love we lose hope, opportunity and enjoyment in our daily lives. As an Augustinian student, I learned to Love more to my family, friends, classmates, fellow Augustinians and special someone without any condition. With love I can accept the imperfection of a person and with love I can show to the people who really I am. A true meaning of Love is God because his love is beyond compare.
According to Saint Augustine, to love God is “to attain the peace which is yours.” 


 
Second is Friendship. Friendship is a relationship of mutual affection between two or more people. True friendship is one that the Lord grants for those who love each other in Him. In this University I found my friends who truly are, they cheers me up when I felt stress. They make me laugh when I felt sad. They help me when I have a problem. And we treat each other as equal person. A friend is a precious like a diamonds that it is very hard to find.

And lastly is Prayer. Prayer is encounter with God in Love. It is a dialogue. It is a spontaneous expression of our faith. It is necessarily as breathing, and it comes from man’s need of God, hence it is a cry that one raises to the Lord. Being an Augustinian, prayer helps me to become a stronger person because I know that God always at my side wherever I’ll go and I felt being safe. Just have faith and trust with God because he will answer your prayer.

Augustinian Youth Day!

The University of San Agustin celebrate Augustinian Youth Day (AYD) on August 28, 2014 (Thursday) to commemorate the death and give honor to Saint Augustine and this is one of the highlight feasts of St. Augustine. The Augustinian students share their talents in sports, literary, musical and dance competitions. There are lots of kiosks in university you can buy foods, drinks, clothes and also the Augustinian products like planner, t-shirts and so on. In the Morning there is a Mass, it is the tradition of the University to offer a mass first. Our teacher assigned us to give the bookmarks after the mass to our fellow Augustinians.

 At 10:00 am the sad-sad is started the students can’t wait to watch the performance of different departments their costumes is unique and creative, the College of Management and Accountancy is one of the participant in sad-sad. In the afternoon there is AYD Forum in Campus Ministry and Cassiciacum in USA gymnasium. 

This Augustinian Youth Day is so memorable for me because I’m with my friends we enjoy attending different events and activities. We stroll around the campus and take pictures. It has been a tradition of this University to highlight this part of the year. This year's Augustinian Youth Day taught us to unite and love.

The Love of Father to his Daughter

     I am not really love to watch Korean movies. But my friends told me that this movie will touch my heart and also will make me laugh. So, I watched it and yes this movie is worth to watch. Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a heartwarming and heart-wrenching movie and this is the best drama-comedy movie in Korea. The story tells about the mentally ill father - even though he is mentally ill he take care his daughter very well but behind that he accused & convicted for a crime he didn't commit. And his lovingly intelligent daughter - who loves his father so much and doesn't see her father differently.

     The movie is filled with tears and laughter. Some scenes, no matter how silly or childish, still are able to resonate a feeling of love, what really matter in this movie is love. The unconditional love between a mentally ill father and his daughter has been portrayed immaculately.

My Best Friend, My Mother <3

     A mother is a female parent, but a mother is more than just a parent. She is her children’s best friend. A mother is someone who loves you unconditionally and more than life itself.  Mothers are angels in disguise sent from God to watch and help us through our troublesome times. A mother’s love is a bond that connects us together, even before birth. Mothers may seem just like ordinary people, but they are really super heroes in disguise. No matter how much we hurt and irritate and don’t appreciate our mothers, they still love us no matter what. They accept us for who we are even though we aren't necessarily the best people we could be. They show their love in a million different ways every day.

     My mother inspires me a lot since I was a little until now. I’m really thankful to God that she gave me a Mother that is beautiful inside and out. When I was a little she is my first teacher, she teach me what is right and wrong and also she teach me about God, she’s the best teacher ever. I remember in my childhood, she dress up me well like a Barbie, putting clips in my hair and after that she takes me a picture. She treats me, also to my brothers like “Barkada”. Even though she has a problem she can manage to take care of us and she still has a smile on her face. I know she sacrifices a lot in our family just to make us safe. Now that I’m older, I realize more and more everything she did, everything she gave, and most important, everything she stand for. So, I just want to say to my Mother that I’m sorry for what I've done wrong, I’m sorry for all the times I have hurt you. Thank you for protecting me from the things I shouldn't do, for guiding me in the right direction, and thank you for the never-ending unconditional love you gave. I learn a lot from you. I LOVE YOU NAY!

     She’s my Best friend, she’s my guardian angel, she's my inspiration, she’s my mother. And the only reward a mother wants at the end of the day is the simple words, I Love You.
